You may be a Highly Sensitive Person. Highly Sensitive People often suffer from feeling everything to extreme.
They can absorb energy from other people and environments.
They process on a deeper level than others.
Therefore, they quite often experience feeling overwhelmed after being in social situations. It is extremely important to stay grounded especially for Highly Sensitive People.
It is extremely important to stay grounded especially for Highly Sensitive People.
For a long time, I did realize there were other people like me. I just thought something was wrong with me. As a child, I would scream when my mother took me out in public. I was traumatized by thunderstorms. I would take all of my toys out of my large coffin-shaped toybox and climb in. I could stay there for hours if left alone.

I would take all of my toys out of my large coffin-shaped toybox and climb in. I could stay there for hours if left alone. Luckily, my mom understood and nurtured me in the ways I needed.
As a young adult, I needed a lot of alone time, which I was given by my family.
I was not antisocial and had tons of friends, but I think this would have been very different if my family had not understood my needs.
As an adult, I would often times be ungrounded and not even realize it. I suffered from depression and spent months avoiding life by going to bed.
When I finally realized how important grounding was. I began practicing these techniques. It turned my life around. Finally, I had tools to reset without having to run to my bed.
Finally, I had tools to reset without having to run to my bed. I was able to release energy I’d taken on from other people.
I was able to decipher the difference between my emotions and other’s emotions, as they frequently ran through my nervous system.
It can be confusing being extremely sensitive and feeling everything on such a deep level. I hope these can help you as much as they have helped me.
1. Pyramid
Imagine your body being the top of the pyramid. Picture the base of the pyramid grounding down deep into the Earth.
Feel the solid foundation of the Pyramid as it strongly and deeply anchors you with the Earth.
2. Grounding Pole
This one is very effective in clearing energy that may have been absorbed from others or just letting go of stagnant energy while grounding into the Earth.
Start by taking 3 breaths in and out.
Picture a pole coming out of your tailbone and reaching down into the Earth. It can be the size of a telephone pole or the size of a large tree trunk.
Just picture it reaching from the base of your spine and deep into the Earth. Then, it can connect with a large crystal or aquifer deep within the Earth’s core.
Then, have the intention of releasing and letting go of any energy that is not yours.
Let the energy flow down the pole and into the Earth for recycling. Then, release any old energy that you don’t need anymore.
Let it flow down the pole into the Earth. Do this a few times.
Next, allow the Sun’s golden light energy to come in through the top of your head and fill all of the spaces in your body.
Let the vital ball of light bathe you with its life force, filling you completely. Notice how this feels.
I use this one almost every day to clear energy that I may have picked up from my environment or any stuck energy.
3. White Bubble
This is a quick and simple way to put up a protection field and ground into one’s own space.
You simply visualize a white bubble surrounding your whole body. It can be a bubble of white light. As you visualize this around you, take 5 deep breaths and relax.
As you visualize this around you, take 5 deep breaths and relax.
I like this one because it can be done at any point during a busy day. It only takes a minute and you are good to go.
4. Growing Roots
Stand on the ground or imagine standing barefoot on the Earth. Feel the grass or dirt under your feet. Then, picture roots growing out from your feet and going to the center of the Earth’s core.
Then, picture roots growing out from your feet and going to the center of the Earth’s core.
Then, picture limbs growing out of your hands and growing high into the sky reaching toward the Sun.
Breathe and connect with the radiant Sun & living Earth. Allow the Earth’s energy to send energy up through roots, firmly anchoring your body with the Earth while drawing celestial energy from the Sun.
5. Fire Breathing
Reach both arms over your head, bringing the backs of your hands together and reaching into the 8th Chakra.
Take both arms from overhead reaching out and down by legs, as if opening a circle around body.
Then repeat taking hands with back of hands together overhead and reaching out and down in front and behind body, opening a circle around body.
Then, take both arms behind body hands clasped together with index fingers straight down.
Begin breathing in and out through the nose, allowing the breath to flow deep into the abdomen. Then, increase
Then, increase speed of breathing as fast and you can. The abdomen will expand and contract naturally. it will become almost like a deep panting.
Then, increase speed of breathing as fast and you can. The abdomen will expand and contract naturally. it will become almost like a deep panting.
After a minute or two of fast fire breathing, take a deep cleansing exhale releasing all of the air out of your lungs.
Then, inhale 3 times and hold. Contract the perineal muscles 3 times while holding the inhale and drawing
Earth energy into the root chakra/base of spine.
Exhale.
Bring arms overhead, reaching into the 8th chakra over head, back of hands together.
Repeat opening hands and arms and bringing them behind back. Repeat breathing series 1-5 times.
After, sit quietly and notice how the body feels. Notice connection with Earth. Notice feeling deeply anchored.
6. Violet Flame
This is good for protection and grounding. This is one of my favorites.
Imagine Earth’s vital energy flowing into the base of your spine and running up the spine to the top of the head.
Then picture a violet flame right above the head.
Then, picture the Violet light growing around your body and enveloping you on all sides.
Connect with the Earth energy and the violet light. Breathe and notice how this feels. You can continue to imagine this light around you as you go through your day.
I love how simple yet profound this technique is at grounding and especially how the violet light forms a protective boundary for my body.
This is very important for highly sensitive people.
It gives a buffer so the luminous field of energy surrounding the body can remain strong and unaffected by outside energies.
7. Waterfall
This is good to do at any point that one feels overwhelmed or overstimulated.
It is a way to quickly cleanse and reset the energy field without having to excuse yourself.
Take a few breaths in and out while picturing standing under a waterfall.
Allow the water to run over your entire body washing away everything down and into the Earth.
Picture your feet firmly planted on the ground and let the waterfall cleanse.
Do this for as long as need. You will notice the energy shift fairly quickly.
8. White Cocoon
Imagine a white light spiraling from your feet in a clockwise direction around the body, slowly rising.
As it rises, picture it forming a protective cocoon around your body.
Allow the Earth’s energy to rise into the cocoon, anchoring you to the Earth and surrounding you with a protective white shield.
Take 3 deep breaths. You can continue to picture this throughout the day.
I really like using this technique if I am going to be around a lot of people in a busy area.
It helps me stay grounded and not get too overwhelmed with all the energies within the group.
As a highly sensitive person, it is easy to get overstimulated in a large group of people so this one is a life saver.
9. Closing Doors on Chakras
Imagine bringing the Earth’s energy through each chakra from root chakra, to navel chakra, to solar plexus, to heart, to throat, to forehead, to top of head.
As you do this, picturing a door on each chakra and close the doors one by one.
I find this one particularly helpful, when I am in the presence of a person that feels a bit overbearing.
Often, I will feel like a person is taking up all the space in the room or is getting into my energy field.
Sometimes, I experience it as a pulling at my energy. I find when I do this technique, I am able to distinguish my own space and there is no longer a boundary issue.
10. Wear a Belt
This one can be particularly important during a woman’s menstruation cycle.
Women are more open to outside forces and energies during their moon time.
It is wise to guard their energy and tap into their innate wisdom. It is a time of going inward, if at all possible.
This is less of a technique but it is helpful in grounding and staying within one’s own energy. Wear a belt over the womb.
A wide belt or scarf is best and if possible, add Black Tourmaline to it. You can do this by sewing stones on the belt or making a
You can do this by sewing stones on the belt or making a hip chain of tourmaline that you can wear around you.
You can also wear a pendant or bracelet.
11. Tucking in the Aura & Cleaning the Chakras
The Aura is the field around our bodies. Imagine a grounding pole from the base of the spine reaching down into the Earth’s core.
Then, imagine cords connecting from your Aura and reaching down into the Earth, like cables connecting you to the Earth.
Then, imagine cords connecting from your Aura and reaching down into the Earth, like cables connecting you to the Earth.
Then, take your Aura and tuck it in at the base of your spine. Once it is securely tucked in, imagine taking a squeegee and cleaning the inside of your Aura.
This is done the same way you clean windows. Just clean all sides of the Aura and release all the old energy down the pole at the base of your spine.
When it is all cleansed. Make sure the Aura is nicely tucked in and picture a large ball of golden light above your head.
Let the golden light come into the top of your head, down over the face, neck, into the arms, torso, abdomen, hips, legs and filling the whole body with golden light.
Take 3 deep breaths and allow the light to permeate your being.
12. Cutting & Zipping
Take your hand and place it over your head, palm down. Then, move the hand in a cutting action over the forehead and front of the body. Then take hands
Next, take hands in front of heart, palms together with right thumb up and left thumb down. Rub hands together quickly forming friction.
Then, take one hand to just under base of spine and zip up the front of body to head, like zipping up a sleeping bag.
This disengages from any unhealthy energy and closes the energy field.
13. Connecting to the Hara (tanden)
Trace a laser line down to core of Earth. Feel molten lava coming up to the Hara – 2 inches below the navel/2nd chakra and filling your sacred space.
Notice how this feels. Notice the energy flowing. Allow the vital core of the Earth to feed you.

Absolutely loved this post – very good ideas, even for “not sensitive” people
Just doing one or two of these exercises would reduce a lot of stress!
I have a useful suggestion – simply cover your solar plexus with your hands – think “I’m contained”.
Sometimes we are extra sensitive, but cannot simply close off. A visualisation is to imagine our “light” to look like a rainbow Mohican haircut, streaming out back and front in a straight line. Energy centres that flow out straight rather than left or right, are balanced well between over-emotional on one hand (left) and over cerebral (right).
I do enjoy your posts. Thank you!
Misha, thank you for posting these techniques. Having gone through EST and Mind Dynamics as a child,I was taught most of this, but as an overwhelmed adult in a hectic world, I had forgotten them for years and wasn’t tapping in to them. Thank you so much for the reminders. Best.
It is truly an honor, Jim. I can relate to this so much. I have gone through periods of forgetting quite a few times. It feels so good to come back to regular practice, especially with so much heavy energy in the world right now.
Quite interesting. I have been practicing different techniques and exercises that helped me a lot but this looks like I could give it a shot.
For the curious, I have been doing these recently
